The worry is that a big building will drink the same water Hampton families use. Closed-loop, air-cooled equipment does not work that way.

What “closed-loop” means

The cooling water stays in the equipment. The only extra water on site is what a few offices and restrooms use — like any small workplace.

What leaves the property

Data centers do not dump cooling water into creeks. The little they discharge goes to the municipal sewer under limits set by the water authority.

Will we hear it from the porch?

People picture roaring fans. New buildings are designed, measured, and limited so they sit closer to everyday background sound than to heavy industry.

A local comparison

EchoPark Speedway (formerly Atlanta Motor Speedway) sits about 3 miles west of Hampton’s historic center. A race day there is far louder than any data center will ever be.

Why this is not “bitcoin noise”

Older outdoor mining lots were cheap and loud. This facility is a modern building with construction methods meant to keep sound on the property.

Will it clog Hampton’s roads?

Traffic

The site was not empty farmland with no plan. The county had already signed off on millions of square feet of industrial buildings — and the cars that come with them.

“It will clog our roads.”

Fact

Henry County already approved this land for much heavier industrial use. A data center is about 1.5% of that traffic.

The plan this replaces

Henry County originally approved this site for more than 6 million square feet of industrial buildings. That use was projected at 30,000–40,000 cars a day. The data center is a small fraction of that.

Who is actually driving there

A data center is mostly machines. Daily traffic is a modest staff shift, plus occasional service trucks — not a warehouse with hundreds of dock doors.

Will my light bill go up?

Power bills

Large computer buildings use a lot of electricity. The question for a household is simpler: does that cost land on your bill? Under the current pledges and local setup, it should not.

The data center is built to bring and pay for its own power — not put the cost on Hampton households.

Henry County’s largest provider is Snapping Shoals EMC, with Central Georgia EMC serving much of the rest — local co-ops, not Georgia Power. The data center powers itself. Your bill is protected.

What does the town actually receive?
